Matt Beasley graduated in mechanical engineering from the University of Brighton, and worked previously as project engineer, Light Duty Diesel Engines, Advanced Technology between 1998 and 2000 before rising successively to chief engineer and project director.

Among his achievements he has worked extensively on advanced combustion control, performance enhancement and advanced two-stage turbocharging of diesel engines, together with diesel engine development for endurance racing applications.
