BRDC award for our man Green
The accolades keep pouring in… the record breaking performances of JCB DIESELMAX team and, in particular, driver Andy Green have received further recognition. Green’s accomplishments in smashing the diesel land speed record at Bonneville during August were highlighted at a star-studded awards ceremony in London hosted by the UK’s premier motor sport magazine Autosport where he was joined on stage by many of the world’s top racing drivers including Jenson Button and David Coulthard.
Green has also been awarded the coveted John Cobb Trophy from the British Racing Drivers Club. Named after one of the greatest record breakers, the trophy is presented to a British driver driving a British car who has achieved success of outstanding character.
"I feel very proud to have been awarded The John Cobb Trophy by the BRDC for 2006. It means a great deal that the Club has recognised the remarkable achievements of the JCB DIESELMAX and, as the driver, I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of the whole team," remarked Green.
It’s particularly fitting that Green should win this award as Cobb’s twin-engined Railton Special – with which the Englishman established an outright world record of 393.93 mph (633.79kmh) at Bonneville in 1947 – was in many ways the spiritual predecessor to the JCB DIESELMAX.
